SAG IS ASKING FOR SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO IMPROVE THEIR WEBSITE

If you have received an email from SAG about this or if you are a member registered to access SAG's web page please suggest to them that they create an interactive casting page where we can electronically submit for casting notices placed on the Guild's website.

Like many of you, I find myself paying for an online casting site where I can electronically submit on casting notices.

Although I will not mention the names of the casting sites I use, you will probably figure out who they are by their pricing.

One of them which I won't sign up with only allows one or two pictures that can be posted unless you are willing to pay a hefty per pic fee to add more.

Another which I stopped using charges a $2.00 fee per submission. Of course you can pay an annual fee. I decided to opt for the two buck per submission fee because I wanted to find out how good the service was before making a bigger financial commitment.

This was a wise decision because I kept getting casting notices that didn't even come close to fitting my profile. They also sent a notice to me on their site about acting classes. When I didn't bite they sent me an email about the acting school, which I deleted. Finally, they sold my cell phone number to the establishment which placed a sales call (while I was eating dinner). This really got me mad because they didn't want to take no for an answer (even though they had no choice). Also, since I don't use my cell phone a whole lot I buy pay as you go minutes. I do not want some schmuck who I don't know calling me on my cell wasting my precious minutes.

The casting service I'm currently with whom, I pay $10.00 a month is also beginning to tick me off!

They used to only show "union notices fit for me" when I selected that option. But now, they're showing me casting notices that don't even remotely fit my type (gender, race, body type and age). They started doing this just after pilot season when union casting notices became more scarce. coincidence? I don't think so.

There never seems be to a shortage of people in this industry looking for ways to separate actors from our money who either provide sub-standard service or are an outright scam.

As a union actor (for many years) I feel that SAG ought to have a casting notice page which we can electronically submit for work on. A service which would be free of charge for potential employers and union actors. One that would insure that paid up SAG members are submitting for work posted by employers who have signed a signatory agreement with the guild.
