The Casting Frontier

We have had several auditions over the last month that have required a Casting Frontier scan bar.

    CASTING FRONTIER

I know for sure that Ocean Park Casting, Cast Away Studios, and On Your Mark Studios are all using this service and it really is awesome.

    Here's how it works:

When you normally audition you have to sign in, get a headshot & resume ready, usually fill out a size card and get a polaroid taken.

Well, with Casting Frontier, you have all this information stored online. Your headshot, resume, size cards & photos.

When you get to one of the many audition sites that are utilizing this service, they simply scan your barcode that is either on a paper temporary print out or a credit card type member card that has your info on it. THAT'S IT! No more giving them a headshot or filling out the size cards over and over again.

It's simple to use and I do believe most, if not all casting studios will eventually use this system. It rocks!

If you don't currently have an account & a bar code, you can do it ahead of time at Casting Frontier OR you WILL have to do it at the casting location. Either way, there are already some studios that won't even see you until you fill it out and it's better to do it in the comfort of your own home than to have 20 people in back of you on location waiting for you to fill it out.

The future of casting is here my friends....ENJOY!

RSS Feeds...Why You Should Use Them

Sunday, May 6, 2007, 10:53 AM PST [General]

There are so many resources on the web today and the internet evolution is looking brighter every day. There are many tools to educate yourself including my favorite the RSS Feed. Every blogger should have at least 1 RSS feed set up to read about your particular interest. There are some people, like myself, who are RSS junkies. There are numerous industry publications that utilize this service and I'm going to list a few that I personally read each and every day.

    What is RSS?

Variety Magazine has a great selection of feeds and would be beneficial for any actor to read at least the headlines daily. Choose as many topics as you like. I personally like

    VARIETY FEEDS

Hollywood Reporter also has a great selection.

    HOLLYWOOD REPORTER RSS FEEDS

Bonnie Gillespie's article The Actors Voice is one that every actor should read each and every week. If you use no other RSS feed, use this one.

    THE ACTORS VOICE

There are countless of articles, webpages, and resources that now offer this and it's great because it's always current and you get the latest news all in one place.

When you log in to your Metropolis account, click on "My Hub", then "RSS Feed Manager" Icon, and finally copy and paste the url into the box. You can add as many as you like.

    Happy Reading!
